A wonderful review for Movimento di quartetto

Dino Villatico has written a wonderful review in Gli stati generali of my Movimento di quartetto, composed for the Quartetto Werther and commissioned by the Accademia Filarmonica Romana, after its premiere at Teatro Argentina in Rome.

«Antonioni’s piece […] has an explosive effect. It feels like being suspended over an abyss—as Baudelaire said of Chopin’s music—at the bottom of which fragments of the past and present churn tumultuously. A crazed Moviola that sends the film spinning dizzily. And—no small feat for contemporary music—the effect reaches the listener, who, even without perhaps fully grasping what is happening, feels captivated by it and applauds.»

As the memory of it opens the Nuova Consonanza Festival 2025

As the memory of it opens the Nuova Consonanza Festival 2025 | November 9, 2025

On Sunday 9th, the incredible Blow-Up Percussion ensemble kicks off the Nuova Consonanza festival with my piece As the memory of it, for four percussionists.

With the words of the poet Charles Wright:

Nothing’s so beautiful as the memory of it
Gathering light as glass does
As glass does when the sundown is on it
and darkness is still a thousand miles away.

See you there!

🗓 November 9 @ 9PM

In programma, As the memory of it, per quattro percussionisti.

Nothing’s so beautiful as the memory of it
Gathering light as glass does
As glass does when the sundown is on it
and darkness is still a thousand miles away.

Autumn in Rome

Autumn in Rome | November 5, 2025

This autumn, music is bringing me home. The season begins in Rome with the Nuova Consonanza Festival, where …as the memory of it (2019) opens the program on November 9th. [more info]

Later in the festival, the legendary Ensemble Modern will premiere Driften, two studies for chamber ensemble. [more info]

Between performances, I'll step away from the score to explore what "writing" itself means—in a public conversation with writer Mauro Covacic. [more info]

Early December finds me in dialogue with Mahler and Schnittke, with a piece written for the Quartetto Werther, on commission by the Accademia Filarmonica Romana. [more info]

Then, on December 14th, this homecoming will turn into something more intimate: a solo work composed for violinist Francesca Dego, inspired by one of her father's poems.
